April 2 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Thursday,

as U.S. President Donald Trump' threats to escalate attacks on Iran dampened

hopes for a swift resolution to the Middle East conflict.

At 09:31 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX Composite Index

was down 1% at 32,627.61.
