European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Decline in Friday Trading

11:16 AM EDT, 08/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower late Friday morning, declining 0.38% to 1,442.14 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is about 2.8% higher for the week.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which rose 4.7% and 2.4% respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which increased 1.6% and 1.1% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which lost 4.5% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which was down 1.3%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which advanced 4.4% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) , which were up 2% and 0.8% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Amarin ( AMRN ) and Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which dropped 4.3% and 3.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) and construction materials supplier CRH (CRH), which fell 3.6% and 2.3% respectively.
