European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise Sharply in Thursday Trading

11:06 AM EDT, 09/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were moving sharply higher late Thursday morning, rising 1.24% to 1,453.33 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which rose 11% and 3.6%, respectively. They were followed by software firm SAP (SAP) and financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) , which were up 3.3% and 2.3%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by accommodations booking service trivago (TRVG) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which dropped 2.6% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Telefonica ( TEF ) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which were down 1.5% each.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) and insurance firm Prudential (PUK), which were up 3.7% and 3.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which increased 2.9% and 2.6% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which fell 6.2% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) and utilities company National Grid ( NGG ) , which dropped 2.7% and 2.5% respectively.
