European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Slightly in Thursday Trading

11:13 AM EDT, 07/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were moving marginally higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.15% to 1,411.92 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by consumer goods company Unilever ( UL ) and biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX), which rose 6.3% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) and pharmaceutical company Sanofi ( SNY ) , which increased 4.1% and 3.7% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) , which fell 4.7% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by financial services company Banco Santander (SAN) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which were down 3.1% and 2.6% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which were up 4.7% and 3.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which rose 3.1% and 2.3% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca ( AZN ) , which dropped 3.9% and 3% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana ( NCNA ) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which were off 2.9% and 2.4% respectively.
