07:05 AM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were mostly tracking in the green before the open Friday, as traders await the national employment situation report for March.
Standard & Poor's 500 futures rose 0.2%, the Nasdaq gained 0.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.1% in premarket trading. Asian and European exchanges were pointing lower.
The jobs report for March will post at 8:30 am ET. Government data are expected to show nonfarm payroll growth of 213,000 last month, which would mark a drop from a 275,000 increase reported from February, according to a consensus compiled by Bloomberg.
Also on Friday's economic calendar is the weekly Baker Hughes domestic oil-and-gas rig count at 1 pm, followed by the Federal Reserve's consumer credit bulletin for February at 3 pm.
Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins is scheduled to speak at 8:30 am, while Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin speaks at 9:15 am. Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan is slated to speak at 11 am, while Fed Governor Michelle Bowman speaks at 12:15 pm.

Before the opening bell, bitcoin fell 2.4% to $66,871, West Texas Intermediate crude ticked up 0.2% to $86.79 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries inclined 2.3 basis points to 4.33% and gold nudged 0.1% higher to $2,313 an ounce.
