07:06 AM EDT, 06/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were tracking in the red before Tuesday's open ahead of the Federal Reserve's latest two-day monetary policy meeting.
Standard & Poor's 500 futures and the Nasdaq decreased 0.2% each in premarket activity, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 0.3%. Asian exchanges were mixed to lower while European bourses were trending downwards.
The Fed's monetary policy-setting committee is set to meet Tuesday with a decision on interest rates Wednesday. There is a 99% chance the central bank will hold its key rate steady, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.
On the economic calendar, the National Federation of Independent Business' optimism index showed a 0.8-point increase for May to 90.5. The revised first-quarter services survey posts at 10 am ET.
Academy Sports and Outdoors ( ASO ) reports its latest financial results before the bell, among others. Oracle (ORCL), Caseys General Stores ( CASY ) and Rubrik ( RBRK ) disclose earnings in the afterhours.
Shares of Eli Lilly ( LLY ) gained 3.2% pre-bell after a Food and Drug Administration panel unanimously voted to recommend use of the company's proposed early-stage Alzheimer's treatment, according to various media reports. Meta Platforms ( META ) declined 0.5% while Apple ( AAPL ) nudged 0.2% lower.
Before the opening bell, bitcoin dropped 3.6% to $67,109, West Texas Intermediate crude oil dipped 0.5% to $77.39 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries slipped 3.5 basis points to 4.434% and gold ticked down 0.1% to $2,324 an ounce.
