Flipkart has highlighted early indicators from Day 1 of The Big Billion Days 2020 festive sale, with trends showing more new online shoppers are coming from tier 3+ towns, and a majority of sellers participated are from tier 2 cities and beyond.

50 percent of new customers were from tier 3+ cities, across categories.
Sellers from tier 2 cities and beyond are seeing growth on the e-commerce platform.
Local MSMEs from over 2,550 pincodes saw demand coming in from across the country.
Sellers from 167 cities participated in the online sale for the first time
Around 60 percent of sellers were from tier 2 cities and beyond including small cities such as Talcher, Velur, Sohagpur, Sindi among others.
Top performing tier 2 seller cities included Jaipur, Surat and Panipat.

The home category witnessed 53 percent new customers
Large appliances plus beauty and general merchandise witnessed a near 50 percent increase in new customers, all from tier 3 cities
Moreover, there was a 75 percent increase in prepaid transactions and one of every five purchases was in the high-ticket segment like mobiles, furniture, large appliances and electronics, which were driven via the EMI option.
