10:40 AM EDT, 03/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Abbott Laboratories ( ABT ) said Monday that its insertable cardiac monitor Assert-IQ has received CE Mark in Europe.

The device is inserted under the skin of the chest, allowing physicians to do diagnostic evaluation and long-term monitoring of patients with irregular heartbeats, according to the company.

The company said Assert-IQ checks heart rhythms every 20 seconds and uses Bluetooth technology to transmit findings real time to the clinic's portal.

The device offers two battery options, one providing a three-year lifespan and the other lasting six years, the company said.
