09:46 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Academy Sports and Outdoors ( ASO ) said Thursday it has opened three new US stores and will add eight more in Q3.

The sporting goods chain operator said the three new stores are located in Boardman, Ohio; Beaufort, South Carolina; and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The next eight stores are planned to be opened in Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Mississippi.

Academy Sports said it aims to open 20 to 25 new stores this year.

Shares of the company were up 1.8% in early Thursday trading.
