07:28 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Adecoagro ( AGRO ) said Monday that it signed a deal to acquire Nutrien's ( NTR ) 50% interest in Profertil, a producer of granular urea in South America, for about $600 million.

The company said it plans to execute the acquisition through an 80%-20% partnership with Asociacion de Cooperativas Argentinas. Adecoagro ( AGRO ) said it expects to complete the transaction before the end of the year.

Argentinian oil and gas producer YPF owns the remaining 50% interest in Profertil and holds a 90-day right of first refusal to purchase Nutrien's ( NTR ) stake on the same terms and conditions, according to the statement.
