11:04 AM EDT, 10/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Adtran ( ADTN ) and Netomnia are collaborating to bring 50 gigabits per second passive optical network services to the UK.

The network upgrade won't disrupt existing optical distribution systems, and the 50 gigabits per second passive optical network technology will integrate seamlessly with existing setups, the company said Tuesday in a statement.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"By empowering Netomnia to introduce the UK's first broadband offerings based on 50G PON, we're helping them address the escalating demand for multigigabit connectivity," Adtran ( ADTN ) Chief Technology Officer Christoph Glingener said in the statement.
