Aero India takes off with dazzling flying display
Feb 20, 2019 6:29 AM

The 12th edition of the biennial Aero India 2019 air show took off on Wednesday with a dazzling flying display of military and civilian aircraft at the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Yelahanka base in Bengaluru.

After defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off the five-day aerospace expo, about 5,000 guests and invitees were treated to a two-hour spectacular flying display of fighters, helicopters, transport and civilian aircraft.

The multi-role medium combat aircraft Rafale of the French Dassault Aviation was a clear winner, with daring feats at the aerial display visitors' area.

Sitharaman said that close to 150 projects have been cleared as far as defence procurement is concerned from vendors based in India.

The minister invited investors to capitalise on aero space and other sectors which can help manufacturing in India.

The five-day long biennial event, which will showcase India's air defence prowess, will also act as a platform for aviation companies, the defence sector and government to forge new alliances and contracts.

With inputs from agencies.
