08:21 AM EDT, 09/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- AeroVironment ( AVAV ) said Wednesday that it has delivered its first two mobile counter-unmanned aircraft system prototype laser weapon systems to the US Army's Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office as part of the first increment of the army's multi-purpose high-energy laser prototyping effort.
The prototype systems feature AeroVironment's ( AVAV ) 20 kilowatt-class LOCUS laser weapon system integrated into the General Motors (GM) defense infantry squad vehicle platform, the company said.
AeroVironment ( AVAV ) said next month it is set to deliver the second increment of the prototyping effort with two Joint Light Tactical Vehicles equipped with the 20 kilowatt-class LOCUST system, radar, and command-and-control systems.
