Aflac Reports Cyberattack, Launches Review of Potentially Affected Files
Jun 20, 2025 7:20 AM

10:00 AM EDT, 06/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Aflac ( AFL ) said Friday it detected a cybersecurity incident on its US network and stopped the intrusion "within hours."

The company said its business remained operational and its systems were unaffected by ransomware, but certain files may have been affected.

The company said it has started a review of the potentially impacted files that contain claims information, health information, social security numbers, and other personal information of its customers and their beneficiaries as well as its employees and agents.

Preliminary findings show that the unauthorized party, allegedly a "sophisticated cybercrime group" targeting the insurance sector, used social engineering tactics to gain access to its network, Aflac ( AFL ) said.

The company said it is offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for 24 months to clients.
