Ainos to Start Clinical Trial of Potential Animal Drug for Oral Disease Treatment
May 15, 2024 8:58 AM

11:36 AM EDT, 05/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ainos (AIMD) said Wednesday it is set to begin a clinical trial of a potential Veldona-based treatment for chronic gingivostomatitis in cats.

Ainos described feline chronic gingivostomatitis as a chronic painful oral disease characterized by inflammation or abnormal proliferation in the oral cavity.

The trial using its low-dose Veldona oral interferon alpha formulation is expected to run for about 10 months from May 24 to March 31 next year. Veldona has been used since 1985 for treating feline leukemia in cats and canine parvovirus in dogs, Ainos said.

The company said the study will involve two groups of 30 cats receiving low and high doses of the treatment.

Ainos shares were down nearly 2% in recent trading.
