04:14 PM EDT, 08/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Annual fare growth of several US airlines accelerated in July from June, suggesting an improving revenue backdrop for names including American Airlines ( AAL ) and Delta Airlines (DAL), UBS Securities said in a note e-mailed Thursday.
UBS data showed that American Airlines ( AAL ), Delta, United Airlines (UAL) and Alaska Air Group ( ALK ) saw their global and domestic fares rise annually at a faster pace last month than in June.
American Airlines' ( AAL ) global fares for bookings in July grew 4.8% year-on-year, posting the strongest improvement of 270 basis points compared to June's annual growth rate. Its domestic fare growth accelerated to 6.9% in July from 5% in June.

"The data are consistent with airlines' commentary about stronger fares booked in July, which should be supportive of improving revenue later in (the third quarter)," UBS analysts Thomas Wadewitz and Atul Maheswari wrote in the note.
In contrast, Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) fares turned negative in July, both globally and for domestic operations. Its respective fares dropped 3.2% and 3%, compared with gains in the month prior.
