08:52 AM EST, 12/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The International Air Transport Association said Tuesday it expects modest airline industry profit and revenue increases in 2025 despite supply-chain difficulties.
The association said it expects industrywide net profit of $36.6 billion and a net profit margin of 3.6% in 2025, up from $31.5 billion in net profit and a 3.3% net profit margin in 2024.
Average net profit per passenger is expected to be $7.0, the trade group said, up from $6.4 in 2024.
Total industry revenues are expected to be $1.01 trillion, up 4.4% from 2024.
IATA said it expects air passenger numbers to reach 5.2 billion, up 6.7% compared with 2024.
Cargo volumes are anticipated to reach 72.5 million metric tons, up 5.8% from 2024.
The return on invested capital is expected to be strongest for airlines in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, the association said.
