Airline Stocks Rise Slightly After FAA Panel Recommends Relaxing Rules on Pilot Mental Health Issues
Apr 1, 2024 11:13 AM

01:37 PM EDT, 04/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The shares of a number of airlines rose Monday after a panel appointed by the Federal Aviation Administration recommended the agency relax rules on how airline pilots and air traffic controllers handle mental health issues.

The FAA said it was reviewing the recommendations which include creating a "non-punitive pathway" for reporting mental health conditions and treatments and reducing the period pilots can be barred from flying to two months if they modify medication for mental health issues.

Alaska Air Group ( ALK ) , Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) , United Airlines Holdings ( UAL ) and American Airlines Group ( AAL ) rose 1%, 1.4%, 0.4%, and 0.8%, respectively.
