06:27 PM EDT, 06/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Unionized flight attendants at Alaska Air Group's ( ALK ) Alaska Airlines unit have reached a "record" tentative labor deal with the carrier, their union said late Friday.

In a statement on its website, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA said the agreement was struck after "an intense week" of talks that were overseen by the National Mediation Board.

Alaska Airlines has not made a public comment about the deal, and it did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

The union said it and the company will "clean up" language in the contract and present the proposed pact to the AFA's Master Executive Council, which will then vote to release it for ratification by members.

The tentative agreement comes four months after more than 98% of its members voted to authorize a strike, which would have been its first since 1993. The AFA filed for federal mediation with the NMB last September after the previous contract expired in December 2022.
