06:44 AM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alaska Airlines (ALK) said Wednesday it will begin installing SpaceX's Starlink in 2026 and connect all aircraft by 2027.
The roll-out will start from Seattle with more Starlink-equipped departures than other carriers and the first US long-haul flights from the city using the service, the company said.
Starlink will provide gate-to-gate connectivity with speeds up to 500 Mbps and latency under 99 ms for streaming, gaming, and messaging, Alaska Airlines said.
Coverage will span global routes via more than 8,000 satellites, and lighter hardware is expected to save over 800,000 gallons of fuel annually, it said.
Installations start this winter across regional, narrowbody, and widebody fleets, alongside Hawaiian's Starlink-equipped aircraft, the company added.
