Alcoa Says It Signed 10-Year Energy Pact, Plans $60 Million Smelter Upgrade

09:23 AM EDT, 10/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alcoa ( AA ) said Wednesday it signed a 10-year power supply agreement with the New York Power Authority for its Massena Operations.

The company said the contract will provide 240 megawatts of renewable electricity starting April 1, 2026, with an option for two five-year extensions.

Alcoa ( AA ) also said it plans to invest about $60 million to upgrade the Massena smelter.

The investment, supported by a $6 million grant from Empire State Development, will be used to rebuild and modernize the plant's anode baking furnace.
