12:01 PM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Allison Transmission ( ALSN ) said Wednesday a field test of Cummins' (CMI) new X15N 15-liter natural gas engine with the Allison 4000 Series fully automatic transmission was successful.

The combination was tested over the course of 50,000 miles using a Peterbilt tractor that pulled double trailers of bulk cement, according to Allison.

Allison plans to partner with Cummins to offer the combination, helping fleets generate fuel savings and reduce emissions.

Shares of Allison fell 1.1% in recent trading Wednesday, and Cummins gained 0.2%.
