04:45 PM EDT, 07/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Allison Transmission ( ALSN ) said late Monday it has entered a partnership with Maryland Transit Administration for its New Flyer buses with eGen Flex hybrid propulsion system for use in the Baltimore area.

Financial details were not disclosed.

The 40-foot electric-hybrid buses, which will feature geofencing technology that allows buses to run in engine-off mode for up to half their route, will be manufactured this year, the company said.

The system also improves fuel economy by up to 25% compared to diesel buses, supporting the city's cost reductions, it added.

Shares of the company were up 1.5% in recent after-hours activity.
