10:38 AM EST, 11/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alpha Metallurgical Resources ( AMR ) said Thursday that a worker at its Rolling Thunder Mine in West Virginia died in a flooding incident on Nov. 8.

Steven Lipscomb, who worked as a section foreman, was unable to reach safety after ensuring his crew evacuated the flooded mine, the company said. All other miners in the area made it out safely, Alpha said.

The company said it is working with federal and state authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident.
