07:14 AM EDT, 10/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet (GOOGL) former Chief Executive Eric Schmidt and Prime Minister Keir Starmer will headline an international investment summit beginning next week, the UK government said in a statement Saturday.
"I'm determined to bring forward a new era of stability, trust, and partnership with businesses, investors, and local leaders," Starmer said ahead of the London summit, the first under his Labour government.
Alphabet President Ruth Porat and Brookfield Asset Management ( BAM ) Chief Executive Bruce Flatt are also slated to attend.
Though he was a featured speaker at last year's summit, Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk did not receive an invite, following comments he made about unrest in the UK this year.
"I don't think anyone should go to the UK when they're releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts," Musk wrote on his platform X.
