Alphabet Faces Lawsuit in Poland by Allegro's Ceneo Unit
Dec 23, 2024 7:54 AM

10:38 AM EST, 12/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) is facing a lawsuit filed by Allegro's Ceneo unit, which operates a Polish price comparison website, for alleged anti-competitive practices that impacted the subsidiary's business.

Allegro said Monday that its unit filed a lawsuit against Alphabet, Google ( GOOG ) and Google Ireland in the District Court in Warsaw, claiming that Google ( GOOG ) search results favored Alphabet's own own price comparison service and has "harmed" Ceneo's business.

Ceneo is seeking about 2.33 billion Polish zlotys ($567.5 million) in damages from the Alphabet entities, according to the statement.

Alphabet did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

GOOG and GOOGL shares were edging 0.1% lower in recent trading.
