08:40 AM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google Cloud platform said Tuesday that it has agreed to expand a strategic partnership deal with Snap (SNAP) involving the latter's AI-powered chatbot My AI.

Google Cloud said Snap's Snapchat will leverage Gemini on Vertex AI to provide new features for the Snapchat community via the My AI chatbot. With Gemini on Vertex AI integrated into the app, Snapchat users will be able to query My AI for translations of photos that include foreign text or interpret other information based on text, audio, image, video, and code.

Snapchat has seen engagement within Snapping to My AI rise by more than 2.5 times in the US since deploying Gemini on Vertex AI to support its chatbot, Google Cloud said.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
