01:45 PM EDT, 05/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) launched Pixel 8a, a $499 budget smartphone, featuring artificial intelligence and an updated screen, the company said Tuesday.

The Pixel 8a succeeds the 7a model in the company's budget phone lineup and introduces a new processor, brighter screen, more storage and AI camera features, Google ( GOOG ) said in a blog post.

The company is also offering its Pixel Tablet for $399 without the charging stand.

Pixel 8a and Pixel Tablet are now available for pre-order, and will be available at Google Store and retailers starting May 14.

Alphabet shares were up 1.8% in recent trading.
