Alphabet's Google Performance Max Ad Campaign Faces Turkish Probe
Jun 20, 2025 10:12 AM

12:47 PM EDT, 06/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG/GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is under investigation by Turkish competition authorities for allegedly using its Performance Max advertising platform to unfairly extend its dominance in the online advertising market.

An investigation was opened after a preliminary inquiry revealed "significant" findings suggesting Google ( GOOG ) may have violated competition laws, the Turkish Competition Authority said Friday in a statement.

Google ( GOOG ) may be leveraging its strong position in search advertising to gain an unfair advantage in other ad services through PMAX, the authority alleged.

Advertisers using PMAX may have limited transparency and control, raising concerns that Google ( GOOG ) may be taking advantage of them, the authority said.

Goggle didn't respond immediately to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Alphabet's shares fell 2.3% in recent trading Friday.

Price: 170.07, Change: -3.91, Percent Change: -2.25
