04:47 AM EDT, 10/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unveiled a plan Tuesday to invest $15 billion over the next five years to set up an artificial intelligence data center hub in Visakhapatnam, India, marking its largest investment in the country.
The AI hub will combine gigawatt-scale data center operations, new large-scale energy sources, and an expanded fiber-optic network, the company said. The international subsea cables will create "an essential connectivity hub on India's eastern coast" alongside existing landings in Indian cities Mumbai and Chennai.
Working with AdaniConnex and Airtel, the project will aim to deliver "reliable, advanced infrastructure necessary for large enterprises and innovative Indian startups alike to build and scale their own AI-powered solutions," the company added.
