08:28 AM EST, 12/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said in a court ruling Friday it was willing to loosen its agreements with Apple ( AAPL ) and other device makers to set its search engine as a default.
The move is an attempt to counter a court ruling accusing it of unlawfully dominating the field and calling for the company to spin off its Chrome browser, Reuters reported.
Under Google's ( GOOG ) proposed final judgement, the company would be bound not to enter in any agreement with or provide payments to any device maker or wireless carrier that would make the licensing of any Google ( GOOG ) software conditioned upon distributing or pre-installing Google's ( GOOG ) search, Chrome, or AI assistance software tools, or bar them from installing competitors' software, a court filing said.
