Alphabet's Google Reportedly Asks Federal Court in Virginia to Toss Antitrust Case
Apr 29, 2024 6:58 AM

09:38 AM EDT, 04/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unit on Friday asked a federal court in Virginia to toss an antitrust case filed against the company by the US government, media outlets reported.

Google ( GOOG ) said that the case went "beyond the boundaries of antitrust law," adding that the suit focused on "lawful choices about whom to do business with and product improvements that benefited Google's ( GOOG ) customers," Reuters reported late Friday.

In its January 2023 suit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the US Department of Justice accused Google ( GOOG ) of using anticompetitive means "to eliminate or severely diminish any threat to its dominance over digital advertising technologies."

Google ( GOOG ) and the Justice Department didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
