06:52 AM EST, 01/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) is making an additional $1 billion investment in artificial intelligence developer Anthropic, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday citing people familiar with the matter.

The sources said Google ( GOOG ) has already invested over $2 billion in the OpenAI rival and is now increasing its stake in the group,

According to Bloomberg News, Google ( GOOG ) has a business agreement with Anthropic that covers the use of a suite of online tools and services.

Anthropic declined to comment, while Google ( GOOG ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
