Alphabet's Google Says Customer Data Stolen by Hacking Group in Database Systems Breach
Aug 6, 2025 7:14 AM

09:51 AM EDT, 08/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said Tuesday some of its customers' data was stolen in a breach of one of its Salesforce ( CRM ) database systems.

The system, which was used to store contact information and related notes for small and medium businesses, was breached by a hacking group known as ShinyHunters, formally designated as UNC6040, Google ( GOOG ) said in a blog post.

"The data retrieved by the threat actor was confined to basic and largely publicly available business information, such as business names and contact details," the tech giant said.

The number of customers impacted by the breach was not disclosed by the company.

Google ( GOOG ) and Salesforce ( CRM ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
