05:34 AM EDT, 09/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) is investing $3.3 billion in its data centers in South Carolina, according to a Thursday statement from the state's Governor Henry McMaster's press office.
The investment comprises $2 billion for two new data center campuses in Dorchester County and $1.3 billion for the expansion of the tech giant's existing data center in Berkeley County.
The plan is expected to create "hundreds of new jobs" in both counties, the governor's office said.
Alphabet Chief Executive Sundar Pichai also announced the investment through a post on X.
