11:26 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) filed an application Wednesday with the US Supreme Court urging for a 'partial stay' of certain parts of an earlier court order relating to its legal dispute with Epic Games.
An injunction issued last year over the Epic Games lawsuit ordered Google ( GOOG ) to allow users to download rival application stores within its Play store and give competitors access to its Play store's app catalog, the company said in the filing.
This court order will cause "immediate irreparable harm" to Google ( GOOG ), developers, and consumers, according to Google's ( GOOG ) application. Google ( GOOG ) said the injunction also exposes users and developers to "substantial" security risks.
Google ( GOOG ) said it requested the Supreme Court to issue a ruling on its application by Oct. 17.
