Alphabet's YouTube Secures Short-Term Extension With Fox to Avoid Service Disruption
Aug 28, 2025 3:18 AM

05:46 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube ( GOOG ) said Thursday it has reached a short-term extension with Fox (FOX, FOXA) to prevent disruptions in service for YouTube TV subscribers.

The temporary deal comes as the companies continue negotiations for a new content agreement, YouTube ( GOOG ) said.

The extension follows earlier concerns that Fox channels could go dark if the parties didn't reach a new agreement by Wednesday, the company said.

Fox has expressed dissatisfaction with Google's ( GOOG ) proposed terms, but the short-term extension provides temporary relief for subscribers, YouTube ( GOOG ) added.
