Amazon Drivers at Illinois Delivery Station Demand Teamsters Union Recognition
Aug 30, 2024 11:52 PM

02:07 PM EDT, 08/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) drivers at its DIL7 delivery station in Skokie, Illinois, are demanding that the company recognize the Teamsters union and deliver a labor contract, the Teamsters said Wednesday.

Among the demands are "fair wages, affordable health care, and safe working conditions," the Teamsters said. The latest move brings drivers from all four Amazon Delivery Service Partners stations in Skokie, Illinois, into the union, with majority of them signing authorization cards with Teamsters Local 705.

The Teamsters said the announcement follows last week's decision of the National Labor Relations Board Region 31 that Amazon ( AMZN ) has a legal duty to recognize and bargain with the Teamsters Union as the company is a joint employer of its Delivery Service Partners drivers.

Amazon ( AMZN ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
