05:35 AM EDT, 06/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) 's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, Project Kuiper, and Vrio Corporation said Thursday they have entered a distribution agreement to offer internet connectivity in seven countries in South America.
Vrio said it plans to use Project Kuiper's network to provide connectivity services to residential customers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia through DIRECTV Latin America and Sky Brasil, in line with local regulations.
The agreement is expected to bring fast and affordable high-speed internet to about 383 million people, including 200 million people that still do not have access to the internet as estimated by the World Bank, the company said.
