08:59 AM EST, 11/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) , Meta Platforms ( META ) , and other companies under a buyers group in the maritime sector are seeking bids for the commercial deployment of e-fuels through its next tender set for January, the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance said Wednesday.

The alliance said it is seeking three to five-year contracts for e-fuel-powered container shipping starting 2027, with e-fuels that reduce at least 90% of emissions for primary propulsion.

The tender is expected to help curb nearly 470,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, the alliance said.
