07:41 AM EDT, 04/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) Web Services was ordered to pay Kove $525 million Wednesday after a federal jury ruled against it in a patent infringement trial.

The Illinois jury ruled that Amazon Web Services violated three of Kove's technology patents in powering its cloud computing division.

An Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson told Reuters the company disagrees with the verdict and intends to appeal. The company did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Kove sued Amazon ( AMZN ) in 2018, Reuters reported. It has also filed a suit against Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ) .
