08:15 AM EST, 01/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) placed an order for 200 fully electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks from Daimler, Daimler said on Tuesday.
The company said the trucks would be deployed across Amazon's ( AMZN ) middle-mile network in the UK and Germany, serving high-mileage routes between fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations.
More than 140 of the trucks will operate in the UK, and over 50 will be deployed in Germany, it added.
The 40-ton eActros 600, with a range of 500 km, is expected to be compatible with Amazon's ( AMZN ) delivery needs, Andreas Marschner, Amazon's ( AMZN ) Vice President of Amazon Worldwide Operations Sustainability, told Reuters.
Marschner added that to support the roll-out, Amazon ( AMZN ) is investing in a 360 kW fast-charging network at its own sites, enabling truck charging from 20% to 80% in under an hour.
