Amazon Plans to Shut Down 14 Amazon Fresh Stores in UK, Converting Five to Whole Foods Market

09:46 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) said Tuesday it has planned to shut down 14 of its Amazon Fresh stores in the UK.

The e-commerce giant also intends to convert five Amazon Fresh stores to the Whole Foods Market brand, the company said, adding that the decision is part of its strategy to enhance focus on online grocery delivery options, including expanding collaborations with Morrisons, Co-op, and Iceland.

Amazon ( AMZN ) said it will provide "redeployment opportunities" to impacted staffers as many as possible.

Shares of Amazon ( AMZN ) were down 1.8% in recent Tuesday trading.
