07:15 AM EST, 12/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) plans to begin testing quick commerce operations in India to deliver groceries in 15 minutes or less, news outlets reported Tuesday.

Amazon ( AMZN ) seeks "to offer the largest selection at fastest speeds and greatest value to customers in every single pin-code across the country," Samir Kumar, country manager of Amazon's ( AMZN ) India subsidiary, said in a statement, Reuters reported.

The offering will face competition from both local and global rivals, including Walmart ( WMT )-backed (WMT) Flipkart, which has already launched fast-delivery services, the reports said.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
