06:57 AM EST, 01/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) said late Tuesday that Amazon Web Services plans to invest around $11 billion to expand its infrastructure in Georgia to support cloud computing and AI technologies.
The investment, focused on Butts and Douglas counties, is expected to create at least 550 new high-skilled jobs, the company said.
As demand for generative AI drives the need for advanced cloud infrastructure, AWS said its expansion will help meet the increasing requirements for AI capabilities and data processing power.
AWS has also secured agreements with US utilities to power its data centers, including partnerships with Talen Energy in Pennsylvania and Entergy in Mississippi.
