01:08 PM EST, 01/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) workers at a warehouse near Raleigh, North Carolina, have been cleared by the National Labor Relations Board to vote next month whether to unionize at the facility, according to an announcement Wednesday.
Workers at the Garner, North Carolina, facility will cast their ballots beginning Feb. 10 through Feb. 15, to join Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment, according to the union's website.
The union, representing as many as 4,300 workers at Amazon's ( AMZN ) RDU1 Fulfillment Center, formally petitioned the NLRB Dec. 23 to authorize a vote. The regulatory agency did not immediately respond to a message from MT Newswires.
Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson Eileen Hards told MT Newswires that the company believes it already provides employees with many of the benefits union negotiations would likely produce, including health care insurance and 401k retirement programs as well as competitive pay, noting that all of the company's customer fulfillment and transportation workers recently received a $1.50 increase in their hourly wage to $18.50 per hour.
