05:10 AM EST, 12/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) employees at seven of its US warehouses went on strike Thursday to protest what they described as labor abuses, news outlets reported.
Employees at facilities in New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco were among those taking part in the strike, Reuters reported. It took place during the final stretch of the 2024 holiday shopping season.
The striking workers represent only a small fraction of Amazon's ( AMZN ) 800,000 US employees and that facilities are continuing to operate, according to the reports.
Workers affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which claims it represents 10,000 employees, want Amazon ( AMZN ) to come to the negotiating table, the reports said.
Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
