Amazon-Backed Anthropic Updates AI Safety Policy With New Protections
Apr 1, 2025 4:07 AM

06:40 AM EDT, 04/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) backed Anthropic said Monday it updated its 'responsible scaling' policy for artificial intelligence technology.

The company said its new safety measures ensure its AI models are scaled securely, including criteria for when additional protections are needed.

Anthropic said in a blog post that if stress-testing an AI model reveals its potential to aid in the development of chemical or biological weapons by a 'moderately-resourced state program,' the company will implement new security safeguards before releasing the technology.

If AI models could be used to fully automate the role of an entry-level researcher or accelerate scaling too quickly, it would also trigger security measures to prevent misuse, the company said.
