08:00 AM EDT, 03/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) and Flipkart products were seized by Indian authorities following a raid on their warehouses in New Delhi, according to a government statement issued Wednesday.
The Bureau of Indian Standards' search and seizure operations at the warehouses were part of "efforts to enforce compliance with quality standards for consumer protection," New Delhi's Press Information Bureau said.
According to the statement, over 3,500 products worth about 7 million Indian rupees ($81,639) were seized from Amazon ( AMZN ) warehouses, while 590 pairs of sports footwear worth about 600,000 rupees were seized from a Flipkart unit's warehouse.
Amazon ( AMZN ) and Flipkart did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
