08:20 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Amazon Web Services and Volkswagen have extended their "factory cloud" partnership by five years, the German carmaker said Thursday.

Volkswagen said 43 of its production facilities across Europe and America are already connected to the Digital Production Platform developed with AWS to roll out artificial intelligence and IT systems aimed at improving production and reducing costs.

The cloud platform helps connect order intake, logistics and manufacturing, and allows the company to deploy new IT systems to optimize coordination of complex vehicle assembly processes, Volkswagen said.

The carmaker said it now uses over 1,200 AI applications and is seeing medium-term savings in the "double-digit million range" because of these systems.
